Alpha terms
Last updated April 23, 2026
What you're agreeing to
You’re among the first handful of people to use Yearling. This page is the agreement between you and us for the duration of the closed alpha. It is intentionally short.
What Yearling does
Yearling helps you see your child more clearly. You log their activities, calendar, and small moments. Nova — our AI guide — reflects patterns back in a weekly brief, flags imbalances, and helps you plan what to do next.
This is alpha software. Features will change. Things will occasionally break.
What you agree to
- Use Yearling for your own family.
- Provide accurate information when you sign up. Don’t impersonate anyone.
- Don’t try to probe, scrape, or attack the service. If you find a security issue, tell us at hello@yearling.app and we’ll thank you.
- Treat villagers you invite (grandparents, coaches, friends) with the same consent you’d expect — ask before adding someone to your household.
What we commit to
- We’ll run Yearling with reasonable care. Database access is scoped to you; secrets are kept out of source control; data transmission is encrypted.
- We’ll be responsive. During alpha, email reaches a human within a day or two.
- We’ll give notice before material changes to pricing, terms, or privacy.
- If something goes wrong, we’ll be candid about what happened and what we’re doing about it.
The alpha caveats
- Bugs. You will find them. Please tell us.
- Data may be reset. We don’t expect to wipe production data, but during alpha we reserve the option to do so if it’s needed to fix a structural issue. We’ll warn you first.
- Availability. Yearling may be down for short windows while we deploy. There is no SLA during alpha.
- Not professional advice. Nova is helpful; it is not a pediatrician, psychologist, or educator. Anything it says about your child is a signal to consider, not a diagnosis to act on.
Your data
Your data belongs to you. How we handle it is described in the privacy page. You can delete your account at any time from account settings.
Limits
To the fullest extent allowed by law, Yearling is provided “as is” during the alpha. We’re not liable for indirect or consequential damages. Our total liability for the alpha is limited to any fees you paid us, which is $0.
If this paragraph feels lawyerly next to the rest of the page, that’s because it is. We kept it short on purpose.
Ending the alpha
Either of us can end this arrangement at any time. If you stop using Yearling, your account stays until you delete it. If we wind down the alpha, we’ll give you at least 30 days to export anything you want to keep and delete the rest.
